Maiko parade at the Gion Matsuri - maiko from Gion Kobu by HAGINON - BLOG
Every geiko district from Kyoto dresses differently for the main parade of Gion Matsuri (biggest summer festival in Kyoto). Gion Kobu’s maiko dress up in straw hats, light pink kimono with one sleeve hanging loosely to show off a red under skirt (nagajuban). They perform “the Sparrow Dance” at the stage of Yasaka Shrine.
